This 1969 Mercedes 280sl is a true European Model
I've replaced many items along the way. This car comes with the hardtop and convertible top (3yrs new), it has a four speed transmission attached to a slightly broken in fuel injected straight six 2.8 liter engine (no receipts), comes with repair manuals and some books.
I have the written and photo past history of the car from the first owner in Paris, France and the second owner that works and lives between Europe and the United States, and me.
The Antique French tags are real and can be registered in Europe. This car drives perfect and a head turner. Garage kept since I have owned it, only premium fuel runs through system, I would not hesitate to drive this car cross country as i drove it across Europe to ship it.
Rear Axle: Replaced with new, all three springs and rubber mounts, Rotors, rear brake lines steel and rubber, trailing arms bushings and bolts and leading arms donut bushings, fluids and shocks.
Front Suspension: all front suspension components were replaced a few years before I purchased the car in 2004 and are in perfect working order.
Engine Compartment: A semi fresh 280sl engine with less than 10,000 miles. New Starter, new sparkplug wires, new electronic ignition components installed in the distributor, new electronic coil, most of the rubber hoses and clamps replaced with new, new positive and negative battery cables, new battery hold down with power cut off, new fan clutch, new horn, clutch, pressure plate, throughout bering, slave cylinder replaced 3yrs ago, all bushings on shifter linkage rods for the transmission replaced, new transmission rubber mount, rebuilt fuel injection pump, new $200. A/C crank pulley, new fuel filter, new K&N air filter, new air hose, and new rubber mounts for the radiator.
I also have the complete original long block engine that was pulled from the car due to a scared cylinder that can be rebuilt which will make this a numbers matching car.
Underside: Both mufflers, center and rear replaced. The underside of the car has a rubberized undercoating to prevent rust, this undercoating was also sprayed into any crevice and the sub-frame rails.
Dash: New RPM and speed cables, new heater control cables and knobs, new Sony 208 watt AM/FM CD Xplode stereo, new Alpine 250 watt front speakers
Interior: New carpets, seats recovered with new material, new door panels and new material, new seatbelts replaced 6yrs ago, and the floors are solid.
Exterior: paint is about 4yrs old and has some nicks from rocks, bulbs replaced throughout 6yrs ago, new rubber headlight gaskets, new door seals, new trunk seal, new hard top seals, new hood badge.
Trunk: Amplifier 4yrs old, base, Rubber mat, spare tire and tire cover is there
Wheels and Tires: Have been newly powder coated and a new set of Michelin Hydo-Edge 60,000 mile tires mounted on them, new front rotors and brakes. Alignment was done with the mounting of the tires still drives true.
Extras: I do have some extra parts that come with the car, windshield and gasket, alternator, another steering wheel, fuse cover and much more.
